The panel language, and how to change it
Dashmox reads in English, French, Serbian and Simplified Chinese. The panel language is a setting on your own account rather than on the server or the browser, so it follows you to whichever machine you sign in from, and nobody else’s panel changes when you pick one.
Changing it
Profile, then Language.
Open your profile from the bottom of the navigation and choose a language. The panel reloads into it straight away, and that is the whole of it: no server setting, no restart, nothing to install.
The choice is stored on your account. Sign in from a laptop, a different browser or a phone and the panel is already in the language you chose, which is the reason it is not kept in the browser where it would stay behind on one machine.
The picker appears only when the build you are running carries more than English. A control with one entry in it is a control that does nothing, so on a build with no catalogues the profile page simply does not offer one.

| Setting | What it means | Default |
|---|---|---|
| Language | The language the panel speaks to you in. Shown only when the build carries more than English. | English |
| Where it is kept | On your account, so it follows you to any browser or machine you sign in from. | Your account |
| Who it changes | You alone. Every other account on this server keeps whatever it chose. | You |
| What it covers | The interface and the messages the server sends back, about 1,900 strings. | All of it |
| What it leaves | Long explanations, the guides on this site, file names, domains and commands. | English |
| If a line is missing | The English shows in its place. Never blank, never a code. | English |
What each person sees
Your language is yours alone.
Every account chooses for itself. A customer who reads Chinese can work in Chinese on the same server where you work in English, and neither of you changes anything for the other. Nothing about the server moves with it either: file names, domains, database names, log lines and the commands in the guides stay exactly as they are, because those are not words in a language, they are the things themselves.
What is translated
The interface, and what the server says back.
About 1,900 strings carry the panel itself: buttons, labels, menu items, table headers, field names, and the messages you meet while working. Messages from the server are in it too. The panel looks up its English text in the same catalogue, so a refusal from the API or from the agent on the machine arrives in your language without the server knowing anything about languages at all.
What stays in English for now is the long form writing: the explanations built into some pages, the guides on this site, and a few technical labels that are the same word everywhere. That is a deliberate order rather than an oversight. A panel somebody can work in beats a panel that is half translated everywhere, so the interface came first and the prose follows.
Anything not translated yet shows the English. It is never blank and never a code: the English text is itself the key the catalogue is looked up by, so a missing line falls back to the sentence it was made from.
The rest of Dashmox
The portal and this site have their own.
Three pieces of Dashmox speak more than English, and each carries its own words. The panel is this page. The billing portal your customers sign in to has a picker of its own, and this website has one in the footer: English and French today, with more as they are finished.
Helping with a language
One file, and partly finished is useful.
A language is one file of about 1,900 pairs. The English sits on the left and the translation goes on the right, and the left side is never touched because that is what the panel looks each line up by. Placeholders are written in braces, like {count}, and have to survive into the translation: move one to wherever the sentence needs it, but keep the word inside the braces exactly as it is.
You do not have to finish it. Every line left empty shows the English, so a file that is a third done works properly the day it arrives, and the rest can follow whenever you have time. Send it back as many times as you like.
If you want Dashmox in a language it does not speak yet, or you would rather read it in your own than in English, tell us and we will send you the file. Translations done by somebody who speaks the language are worth more than anything a machine produces, and the people who have done ours were customers who offered.
