Keep the billing system you already run
Dashmox plugs into WHMCS, FOSSBilling and Blesta. Your billing system takes the order and creates, suspends, restores and terminates the account on your server, the way it does now. All three modules are free, open source, and readable before you install them.
What the module does
The whole lifecycle, driven from your billing system.
Create
A paid order creates the customer and their hosting account on the server you chose, with the package that product maps to.
Suspend and restore
An overdue invoice suspends the account. Payment restores it. Neither is a thing you do by hand at the weekend.
Terminate
A cancelled service removes the account on the schedule your billing system already decides.
Change package
An upgrade or downgrade in billing is the package changing on the server, so the limits follow the invoice.
Several servers
The module reaches whichever panel a service is assigned to. Where new accounts land is a server group in your billing system.
What they are using
Your customer sees status, disk, thirty days of transfer and certificate expiry on their service page, read only.
Open source, and readable
Software that holds a key to your panel should not be a blob.
All three modules are published under the MIT licence and none of them is obfuscated or encoded. That matters more here than it does for most software: a provisioning module holds a key to your control panel and runs on the machine that takes your customers' payments. You can read every line of it before you install it, and so can anybody you ask to.
They are three separate modules rather than one with three faces, because the three billing systems are shaped nothing alike. Each is self contained once unpacked. The WHMCS provisioning module is the oldest of the three and the one most people arrive wanting.
The key it uses
A credential that reaches exactly as far as it has to.
The module authenticates with an integration key you create in the panel, with the permissions the module needs and no others. A key with less fails partway through an order; a key with more is a credential that reaches further than the job. The panel records what every key did, so a question about one is a question with an answer.
Integration keys come with Pro and Business. The free plan runs three websites on one server and does not include them, because a key is how you sell hosting rather than how you host your own.
Being honest about it
What a module does not decide.
Your billing system owns the customer, the invoice and the product. The module does not try to own any of them, and there is no second customer list to keep in step. What it owns is the account on the server.
One thing is worth knowing before trusting a balanced server group: the count behind a rule like "fewest accounts" is your billing system's own, so a panel that also holds websites it never created looks emptier than it is. That is true of every provisioning module and is worth knowing rather than discovering.
Is Dashmox an alternative to the panel I use now?
If your panel hosts websites, email, DNS, SSL certificates, databases, backups and customer accounts with hosting packages, Dashmox does those jobs. It runs on your own Linux server, Ubuntu 24.04 LTS today, and is priced per server rather than per account. It also plugs into WHMCS, FOSSBilling and Blesta, so the billing you already run keeps working.
Your servers, with nothing on them counted.
The whole panel is free on one server, with no limit on websites, mailboxes, DNS zones or customer accounts. Pro, for up to five servers, is not available yet.
