Install Dashmox on Ubuntu 24.04 LTS

One command on a fresh Ubuntu 24.04 server installs Dashmox. It asks you nothing and hands you a single-use token to create your account.

Run it as root on a fresh Ubuntu server.

Run it as root on a fresh server. It asks you nothing, so the same line works in a provisioning script or over SSH with nobody watching.

What you need

  • A fresh Ubuntu Server 24.04 LTS machine with root access
  • 1 GB of memory and 2 GB of free disk, or more
  • One filesystem, which is what most servers arrive as and is fine
  • A hostname, such as cp.example.com, pointing at the server
  • SSH access kept open while it installs

24.04 and 26.04 are both supported and 24.04 is the one to choose: Ubuntu carries one PHP version per release and the archive with the rest has nothing for 26.04 yet, so a 26.04 server offers only PHP 8.5. Install Dashmox covers splitting the disk and everything the installer takes.

After it finishes

Your first website with SSL.

  1. Create your account

    Open the address the installer prints, enter the single-use setup token it showed you, and create the owner account. There is no default password.

  2. Answer the setup wizard

    The first time you sign in it asks what this server is for: the name to answer on, where certificate notices should go, the timezone, the firewall, and whether to add email hosting, authoritative DNS, Node.js or container websites. Applying it restarts the panel, which the page says before it starts, and your websites keep being served throughout.

  3. Add a customer

    Customers own websites. Give one a name and a contact email.

  4. Create a website

    Choose its domain, its customer and how it runs, then follow it being set up.

  5. Point the domain

    Set the domain's A and AAAA records to your server, then request a free certificate from the website's SSL tab.

  6. Upload and go

    Upload your files in the file manager or over SFTP, or install WordPress in a click, and visit the website.

Installing questions

What do I need to run Dashmox?

A fresh Ubuntu 24.04 LTS server with root access, at least 1 GB of memory and 2 GB of free disk, and a hostname pointing at it. Any provider works. The installer checks the memory and the disk and refuses rather than half installing. Ubuntu 26.04 LTS is supported as well, with one thing worth knowing before you pick it: it carries PHP 8.5 and cannot add another version, because no third-party archive publishes for it yet, so choose 24.04 if anything you host needs an older PHP. Ubuntu is what Dashmox installs on today; more Linux distributions are planned. Hosting email needs the server to have a name, not only an IP address.

Is there a default password?

No. The installer shows a single-use setup token once. You open the panel, enter the token and create the owner account yourself.

Are updates and security fixes only for paid plans?

No. Every installation is offered every release, including security fixes, whatever plan it is on. An update installs only when an administrator presses the button, and it is refused unless it carries Dashmox's signature.
